Description

Spring Clutches performed the functions listed below. The first is that it only drives in one direction and slips when reversed; the output can exceed the input. It can also be a backstopping clutch. The spring's inner diameter is marginally less than the two hubs' outer diameters. The spring grabs the hubs more tightly the more force is applied. It springs slides when the rotation is reversing because its hold has weakened. Because the spring is only a little bit smaller than the drums, there is a little bit of drag in the free direction.
